Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Peru in Japan. This portal constitutes an effort to develop a better understanding and knowledge among the peoples of Peru and Japan of our common historical ties and potentialities.
In 1873 arrived in Japan the first diplomatic Peruvian mission to establish bilateral relations. Between 1890 and 1950 thousands of Japanese immigrants traveled to Peru and nowadays more than 100,000 Japanese descendants represent a valuable cultural and human contribution. Today, more than 60,000 Peruvians live in Japan contributing to its economy and strengthening our mutual friendship and cooperation ties.
In this page, you will find current information on:
-Peruvian history, geography, culture and traditions.
-Historical elements of our bilateral relation.
-Bilateral trade including information on how to export to Peru and Japan.
-Investment opportunities. -Export directories.
-Statistics and working papers.
-the Peruvian-Japanese Economic Committee (CEPEJA)
-the Peruvian-Japanese Association.
We would like to highlight the interest that Japanese citizens have in presentations and activities on Peruvian culture and history. The expositions on the Nazca civilization and the Ancient Latin American cultures “Inca, Maya and Aztec”, organized by television companies such as TBS and NHK, respectively, have had both an overwhelming success. The contributions of the “peruanistas”, Japanese researchers on various study fields, and especially Japanese archaeologists to the discovery of the historical Peruvian heritage, is quite impressive.
Past and future and especially the social component that we share, link Peru and Japan in a particular way. In a globalized and complex world of the 21st century, the common interests of Peru and Japan are really remarkable. We hope that this web page supports an approach on a political, commercial, cultural and mainly human basis between two countries that are rather united by the Pacific Ocean.
